The members of the Chairman’s Council play a critical role in furthering the mission of Teaching Matters by serving as ambassadors and philanthropic leaders. Their unwavering commitment is instrumental in expanding our reach, providing valuable guidance, and fostering meaningful connections with key stakeholders, community leaders and potential partners. Through their dedication of time and talent, each member of the Chairman’s Council makes a significant contribution to the advancement of our mission to close the opportunity gap of a radically unequal education system for under-served and historically marginalized children.

Members of the Chairman’s Council receive:

• Opportunities to volunteer in the schools that we serve, working one-on-one or in small groups with some of our most struggling readers
• Invitations to small gatherings with Teaching Matters leadership, authors and other experts in childhood education to gain an insider's perspective, learn more about the public school system and have their questions answered in an intimate setting
• Priority placement on all of our school visits, which happen several times a year
• An invitation to our annual Chairman’s Council Speakers’ Series Breakfast, a panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Samantha Boardman, and featuring experts in the fields of mental health and cognitive well being, like, Erika Christakis, Dr. Dilip Jeste, Dr. Gabriele Oettingen, Dr. Aliza Pressman, Lenore Skenazy, and many others.
