Be a part of the Chairman's Council!
The members of the Chairman’s Council play a critical role in furthering the mission of Teaching Matters by serving as ambassadors and philanthropic leaders. Council members are instrumental in expanding our reach, providing valuable guidance, and fostering meaningful connections with key stakeholders, community leaders and potential partners. Through their dedication of time and talent, each member of the Chairman’s Council makes a significant contribution to the advancement of our mission to close the opportunity gap of a radically unequal education system for under-served and historically marginalized children.
Members of the Chairman’s Council receive:
- Opportunities to volunteer in the schools that we serve, working one-on-one or in small groups with some of our most struggling readers
- Invitations to two gatherings per year with Teaching Matters leadership and experts in childhood education to gain an insider's perspective, learn more about the public school system and have their questions answered in an intimate setting
- Priority placement on all of our school visits, which happen several times throughout the year
- An invitation to our annual Chairman’s Council Speaker Series Breakfast, a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Samantha Boardman and featuring experts in the fields of mental health and cognitive well being. Past guest speakers have included Erika Christakis, Dr. Dilip Jeste, Dr. Gabriele Oettingen, Dr. Aliza Pressman, Lenore Skenazy, Jennie Wallace and many others
- First access to Teaching Matters annual report and other timely updates, as well as an invitation to our annual Champions of Education Luncheon and other special events
