Excellent teaching for every student

As a passionate educator working in a district full of diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds, I believe wholeheartedly in the benefits of cultivating equity and inclusion through education. And it all starts with our teachers. In my own career, I have been lucky enough to learn, through innovative teacher mentorships, how to effectively connect and find success with all of my students, regardless of backgrounds. Some teachers, however, may not have the resources available to them in order to gain the necessary training and/or support in assisting them in obtaining these same types of successes. This is where Teaching Matters comes in.

Teaching Matters is a program dedicated to increasing teacher effectiveness and closing the opportunity gap of a radically unequal education system. They look to ensure that all children, especially those from under-served and historically marginalized communities, have equitable access to excellent teaching, regardless of zip code.

Every donation counts in the pursuit of educational equity. So please consider donating in order to help grow this admirable program. By reaching my goal of $4,000, you will not only help fund this great organization for teachers and students, but you will be helping me gain entry into my 3rd NYC Marathon and 6th overall marathon, as I continue on a path of trying to inspire my own students as a teacher, my softball players as a coach, and my own children as a father of three girls through both running and fundraising. My hope is that they will all explore and eventually find their own passions through the power of helping others and volunteering.
